Qassim University Faculty of Engineering New Building

1.     Project name: Constructing and preparing the faculty of engineering (Qassim University).

2.     Faculty Location: the faculty of engineering is located at the west-south side of the Qassim University.

3.     The cost: the overall project cost is 225,949,977.5 Saudi Riyals

4.     The planed time: the project elapses 30 months.

5.     The project area: the entire project is about 29170 m2.

6.     The building area: the entire building is 13780 m2.

a)     The college flat area (B1) 14190 m2.

b)    The workshop flat area (B2) 1800 m2.

c)     The electricity room flat area (B3) 145 m2.

d)    The electricity room flat area (B4) 145 m2.

7.     Project Elements:

The engineering college building (B1) consists of three stories. Each of which occupies the entire building flat are, in addition to a fourth story which is assigned to the department chairmen and the dean office. The area of the four stories is 37680 m2.

·         The main corridor: is the main element of the building. It is the service center which is the joint between the engineering college and the neighbor building (the college of sciences). This corridor was constructed with the construction of the college of sciences.

·        The ground flour (LV2): 11690 m2 and consists of classrooms, laboratories and a mosque.

·        The first flour (LV3): 10960 m2 and consists of the main foyer, classrooms and laboratories.

·        The second flour (LV4): 11246 m2 and consists of official offices, classrooms and meeting rooms.

·        The third flour (LV5): 3786 m2 and consists of administration offices, research center and the dean office.

·        The building roof also is located by the third flour and contains the exposed areas with a total area of 7450 m2.

·        The exposed areas (inside the building) contain slabs and green areas with an area of 2500 m2.

·        The principle location and the outdoor exposed areas contain green areas, slabs and pedestrian corridors with an area of 12890 m2.

The loveliness and the harmony have been taken into consideration in the selection of the main colors and the design of the building fronts which consist of precast reinforced concrete pieces. These pieces were treated to be thermally isolated to stand for any weather changes and to reduce the maintenance cost and the energy consumption.
